Direct printing, performance and durability
At the heart of the LabKorner process lies direct printing, a technique that makes all the difference between a simple reproduction and a true photographic artwork. Unlike traditional inkjet methods, direct printing applies the image directly onto the chosen surface, whether acrylic glass, photographic paper, or aluminum.
This method delivers unmatched color depth and exceptional definition. Blacks are deep and velvety, whites are bright and pure. Every nuance, every subtle detail captured by your lens is reproduced with remarkable fidelity. This high standard allows your photographs to reveal details you may not even have noticed on your screen.
The screen doesn’t tell the whole story, revelation through print
Many people are surprised by the transformation between the image on their phone and the final print. This transformation is not magic, it results from a deep understanding of color management and print profiling.
Your smartphone screen, no matter how advanced, emits light. It displays colors in RGB, red, green, blue, with artificial brightness. Printing, on the other hand, works by reflecting light on a physical surface. Pigments absorb certain wavelengths and reflect others, creating a depth and texture that no screen can replicate.
Our color experts carefully adjust each file to optimize this transition from digital to physical. What formats can I print my photograph in?
This is a frequently asked question, and the answer perfectly reflects our commitment to excellence. At LabKorner, we only produce formats for which we can guarantee outstanding quality and long-term durability.
Technical precision as a guarantee of quality
Each finish comes with its own technical requirements. Acrylic glass, for instance, has size limitations related to its structural resistance and the level of direct printing quality we can maintain. Beyond a certain size, risks of deformation or loss of sharpness no longer meet our standards.
For aluminum, dimensions are defined by the ability of Etalbond® to maintain perfect structural stability over time, even under variations in temperature or humidity.
The maximum size of a print also depends on the quality of the original file. Thanks to modern technologies, some smartphone images can be produced in very large formats, up to Giant, while maintaining excellent detail.

Unlike mass industrial production, our artisanal approach allows us to adapt each format to its chosen finish. Floating frames, assembled by hand by our experts, require specific craftsmanship for every size. We prefer to limit our offering rather than compromise on assembly quality or the longevity of your artwork.

Step 1, file analysis and preparation
As soon as your image is received, our color experts analyze it thoroughly. Resolution, color profile, exposure, every parameter is carefully checked.
If needed, adjustments are suggested to optimize the final result. This crucial step ensures your photograph is enhanced, not simply reproduced.
Step 2, printing according to the chosen finish
Printing on acrylic glass
Your photograph is printed directly onto acrylic glass using direct printing. This technique fuses the image with the material, creating exceptional depth. A protective varnish is then applied to enhance the colors and ensure long-lasting durability.
Our gloss and matte finishes offer two distinct results, gloss enhances vibrant colors and contrast, while matte highlights softer atmospheres and eliminates reflections.
Mounted print on aluminum
Your photograph is printed in high definition directly onto an Etalbond® aluminum panel, both lightweight and extremely durable. A discreet frame supports the piece and creates a 20 mm gap from the wall, enhancing a floating effect.
Gallery Frame
Creating a Gallery Frame is rooted in the art of traditional framing. Your photograph is printed on archival photographic paper using direct printing techniques.
Our artisans then hand cut an acid free passe-partout, 1.4 mm thick, covered with laid paper. The beveled cut, executed with precision, enhances the contrasts of your image. Its neutral pH protects the photograph from condensation and ensures long term preservation.
Step 3, artisanal assembly
The shadow-gap frame, the ultimate display
To elevate large format works, the shadow-gap frame is the ultimate showcase. Hand assembled by our experts, it surrounds your photograph with a frame that makes it appear to float in space.
